Debut of a Playwright

Today marks the anniversary of Alan Ayckbourn’s debut as a professional playwright on 30 July 1955.

On that day, his first play The Square Cat opened at the Library Theatre in Scarborough, launching a playwriting career which has been more successful than Alan could ever have imagined.
