How The Other Half Loves at Salisbury Playhouse

Alan Ayckbourn’s popular 1969 comedy How The Other Half Loves is being revived at Salisbury Playhouse in 2023.

Alan Ayckbourn’s classic comedy takes us into a chaotic world of dysfunctional marriages, domestic drama, and infidelity. The lives of three couples frantically intertwine in this classic Ayckbourn comedy of confusion and chaos.

How The Other Half Loves is running at the Salisbury Playhouse from 9 February to 4 March 2023 and booking opens on 25 November.

The revival will be directed by Gareth Machin with designs by Michael Taylor, lighting by Johanna Town, sound by Elizabeth Purnell with fight director by Paul Benzing. Cast details have not yet been announced.

How The Other Half Loves premiered at the Library Theatre, Scarborough, in 1969, and was a huge early West End hit for Alan Ayckbourn when it opened at the Lyric Theatre in 1970. It is one of the most revived and popular of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays.

Salisbury Playhouse has frequently produced revivals of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays including, in 2019, his 1967 hit Relatively Speaking.
