Tickets Now On Sale For SJT 2023 Events

Alan Ayckbourn’s new play and other Ayckbourn events at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough, during 2023 are now on sale.

The playwright’s home venue has an exciting programme of Ayckbourn events planned centred around his new play, Constant Companions, and a celebration weekend event, The Crafty Art of Ayckbourn.

Constant Companions is Alan Ayckbourn’s 89th play and set in a near future where people have turned to androids for companionship and love. It is running from 7 September to 7 October ands tickets are priced from £10 and can be be booked here.

The Crafty Art of Playmaking weekend incorporates two major events:

Truth Will Out rehearsed reading: Truth Will Out is Alan Ayckbourn’s lost play from 2020 announced by the SJT but cancelled due to the pandemic. Never before seen or performed, Alan Ayckbourn will be leading a unique rehearsed reading of this unseen play. It is taking place on Sunday 17 September at 2.30pm with tickets priced at £25. They can be booked here.

The Crafty Art of Playmaking is a masterclass with Alan Ayckbourn and two of his favourite actors celebrating the 21st anniversary of the release of his book on writing and directing, The Crafty Art of Playmaking. It is taking place on Friday 15 September at 7pm and tickets are priced at £25 and available to book here.

The Crafty Art of Ayckbourn Weekend can also be booked as part of two packages which includes tickets for Constant Companions, The Crafty Art of Playmaking and Truth Will Out as well as an exclusive gala event with Alan Ayckbourn and his Truth Will Out company with a souvenir programme (package A).

A second package (Package B) includes all the above as well as lunch with Alan Ayckbourn and his Constant Companions company, a talk celebrating the 25th anniversary of Comic Potential with the playwright’s archivist, Simon Murgatroyd, as well as other exclusive behind-the-scenes sessions.
